Anies Baswedan, Says Rocky Gerung: Don't Be Late In Determining Vice Presidential Candidates, So As Not To Lose Momentum

Political observer Rocky Gerung advised Anies Baswedan, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, to immediately determine his vice presidential candidate (cawapres) so as not to lose political momentum.

According to him, politicians must be sensitive to existing opportunities and momentum. If it is too late, this opportunity can be lost, and it is difficult to get a second chance.

Rocky Gerung gave his opinion while visiting the VOI office on Thursday, June 8. He revealed that Anies Baswedan seems to be still waiting for input from coalition parties other than NasDem who support him.

However, continued Rocky Gerung, Anies should determine his vice presidential candidate without having to depend on the coalition party. Delaying the announcement for too long can make Anies' political momentum disappear.

Rocky Gerung also revealed that the coalition party, especially the Democrat Party which proposed Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as the vice presidential candidate, was very excited. They are worried about losing the momentum if they are not elected as the Anies pair. In the vote calculation, the Democratic Party has higher electability, compared to NasDem and PKS.

However, Rocky Gerung stated that in politics, the fight over the vice president is often more determined by financial considerations than electability. He calls it an "envelope calculation", where political decisions can be influenced by hidden financial considerations. Rocky hopes that Anies Baswedan can immediately make a decision regarding his vice presidential candidate so as not to lose the momentum.
