Not A Discourse, This Is The Meaning Of Pancasila According To Mahfud MD

JAKARTA Pancasila is not a discourse. This statement was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD.

According to Mahfud, Pancasila was excavated and born from Indonesia with ethical values rooted in the factual experience, root deepening, and religious experience.

"I emphasize that Pancasila is not a mere discourse, but an objective reality with strong legitimacy, both philosophically, politically, and historically," Mahfud said as quoted from a written statement, Thursday, June 1.

Mahfud conveyed this after making a tilas site under a breadfruit tree near Bung Karno's exile house in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, where the Proclaimer reflected and found the core value of Pancasila.

Tapak tilas was carried out as a series before Mahfud led the Pancasila Birthday Commemoration Ceremony at Pancasila Square, Ende, Thursday, June 1.

Mahfud explained that the practice of Pancasila values was realized into Indonesia's ability to deal with crisis storms due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ketika seluruh dunia jatuh di titik nadir terendah, lanjut Mahfud, Indonesia menjadi satu dari sedikit negara yang mampu bertahan, bahkan memimpin negara lain untuk turut bangkit.

"This proves the strength of Pancasila and the greatness of the Indonesian nation. In the future, we will realize Indonesia Gold 2045 and the Dream of Indonesia 2085, which is to become a nation that has human resources whose intelligence outperforms other nations," he said.

Nevertheless, he said, Indonesia still has a myriad of homework to pay attention to, one of which is the high level of stunting prevalence.

"The stunting rate in Indonesia is still high and is above the threshold set by WHO, which is 20 percent. To overcome this, I invite all components to work together, work hand in hand, reduce this figure," said Mahfud.

According to Mahfud, as Indonesia has succeeded together through the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts to eradicate tengkes (stunting) must be carried out through the real work of the Pancasila settlement and the actualization of its value.

"Let us commit together to make it all happen. This is proof of the joint desire to uphold and maintain Pancasila and the value in it," concluded Mahfud.
