CIANJUR - Tens of thousands of residents who were victims of the Cianjur earthquake, West Java, received housing assistance from the central government phase III with a total of IDR 1.2 trillion which could already be used by 42 thousand families (KK).

Spokesperson for the Cianjur Earthquake Disaster Management, Budhi Rahayu Toyib, said that the process of distributing phase III aid for repairing damaged houses affected by the earthquake had begun and had been received by earthquake victims.

"Residents who hold savings books can disburse initial assistance by 40 percent and must really be used for rebuilding houses, especially those who build independently," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 6.

Disbursement is only for residents who choose to build independently, while for residents who choose to build using a third party or applicator, they just receive the key and disbursement is immediately taken care of by the applicator.

"Meanwhile, residents who have not received assistance will be included in the list of recipients of stage IV," said Budhi because most of them submitted changes to the damage which was originally becoming heavy and light to moderate.

"Even in the first, second, and third stages, there are still improvements in the category of damage reaching 48 thousand, including houses that have not been recorded. Meanwhile, in stage III, around 4 thousand home owners submitted changes to the damage data," he said.

His party asked residents who have not been registered as recipients of assistance to report through the village, sub-district or liaison service because according to the orders of the Cianjur Regent, all earthquake victims must receive government assistance.

"If those who have not been registered or submitted changes to the latest condition of the house, they can go through village officials, sub-districts or the appointed liaison service to oversee the affected village," he said.
