Barbie Successful Box Office, Mattel Prepares Barney Films, Pocket Pockets, To Hot Wheels

JAKARTA - The success of Barbie's film made Mattel as the owner of the IP plan to develop their toy products in a big screen format. There are at least 14 content they are preparing to make films including Barney, Total Pocket and Hot Wheels.

Robbie Brenner as producer of Mattel Films who produced Barbie confirmed that Barbie films were the trigger for their future IP developments.

Everyone hopes that when you make a film, there will be a franchise. That's the hope and it continues. But in today's time, you want the first to be successful," Robbie Brenner told Variety.

Barney's film, featuring the purple dinosaur, was produced by actor Daniel Kaleuuya. Brenner said the film would be surealis and reminded viewers of Being John Malkovich or Adaptation.

Barney's film will tell about the search for identity and find someone we love. The theme is more mature even though Brenner doesn't mention what the story is like.

Then there is a pocket figure who is confirmed in the production of the big screen. Directed and written by Lena totaling, Lily Collins will star in the first film ofore Pocket, which is a family comedy genre.

Mattel is also developing several toys for films such as Rock 'Em Sock' Em Robots, American Girl, Magic 8 Ball, Masters of the Universe, Major Matt Mason, UNO, Wishbone, Matchbox, Thomas & Friends and others.

On the other hand, the chances of a Barbie film having a sequel are also wide open after Barbie's success during the broadcast. Even so, Mattel hasn't talked much about Barbie's potential future continuation.
