303 Cows In Tangerang Exposed To Benjol Skin Diseases On The Skin
TANGERANG - The Department of Agriculture and Food Security (DPKP) of Tangerang Regency, Banten, reported that cattle infected with lumpy skin disease (LSD) or lumpy skin disease in its area reached 303.
Head of the Animal Health and Veterinary Society Division of the Tangerang Regency DPKP, Joko Ismadi, said that LSD cases have continued to grow in recent weeks.
"Sampa tanggal 3 Mei ada 219 kasus di 13 kecamatan. Tetapi ternyata ada tambahan lagi di 3 kecamatan dengan total 303 kasus LSD," katanya, dikutip ANTARA, Senin 15 Mei.
According to him, the case of skin disease lumping on livestock has expanded its transmission rate, from previously only found in 13 sub-districts, now it has increased by three regions with a total of 16 sub-districts.
"This is quite a significant increase, because the problem is that we are pursuing the broadcast for the PMK vaccination program which is 10 thousand. Then in the last 3-4 months with the addition of 300 cases is quite large," he said.
He also revealed that hundreds of livestock that tested positive for the lumped skin disease were generally cattle.
"Most of those exposed are cattle, most of them are cattle, and in general most cases are from cows," he said.
Despite the expansion and addition of cases, he continued, some of the cattle that had previously tested positive for LSD have so far begun to recover along with the treatment efforts carried out by his party.
"There are also several animals that were previously suspected of having recovered," he said.

He added that one of the efforts to deal with cases of livestock affected by LSD is the same as handling animals that have verbal and nail disease (PMK), which is separated from healthy cows. Furthermore, the animal health team in the field administers vaccines and treatment or vitamins.
"We are trying to maximize what we can do, whether in our spare time we vaccinate PMK. The case that used to be has started to recover. But, in essence now we are maximally handling it," he said.
