JAKARTA - The Film Ngeri Sedap is the only film from ASEAN member countries that will be screened at the 2023 Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). The film, whose English title Missing Home, caught the attention of BJIFF visitors when it was screened on Wednesday, April 26.The film, starring Arswendy Beningswara Nasution, Tika Panggabean, Boris Bokir Manullang, Gita Bhebhita Butarbutar, Lolox, and Indra Jegel, tells the story of a family with a Batak background.The comedy drama, which premiered in Indonesia on June 2, 2022, tells the story of Mak Domu's longing for his three sons who migrate to Java Island.Because of their respective activities, the three children were reluctant to return to their hometowns on the shores of Lake Toba so Pak Domu and Mak Domu would divorce.
In addition to film fans in China, the screening of the film was also witnessed by the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia at Beijing Dino R Kusnadi and the ranks of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing."I think a mother's longing for her child is common, including among the Chinese people," said Dino commenting on the storyline of the film "Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap" quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, April 27.He also appreciated the screening of Indonesian films at the biggest annual film festival in China.
