MAKI Asks Court To Order Central Java Police Chief To Criminalize Police Brokers
SEMARANG - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) asked the Semarang District Court to order the Central Java Police Chief to carry out legal proceedings against five police officers suspected of being brokers for accepting Polri officers in 2022."Ordered the respondent to carry out a legal process in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws on the alleged criminal act of corruption in the process of accepting candidates for members of the National Police for the 2022 period," said MAKI attorney Dwi Nurdiansyah in a pretrial application submitted at the trial at the Semarang District Court, Antara, Tuesday, April 11.MAKI also asked the Semarang District Court to order the Central Java Police Chief to determine the five police officers involved in the case as suspects and transferred them to the public prosecutor."If there is an investigation, immediately delegate it to the public prosecutor," he said in a trial led by the sole judge Kairul Saleh.Dwi said that to this day it is not known the extent of the handling of the case.In fact, the case already has sufficient preliminary evidence to determine the five police officers as suspects.He added that although the money suspected of being the result of illegal levies originating from the parents of the prospective non-commissioned officers had been returned, it did not abolish the crime committed.Upon the request, the judge gave the defendant's attorney the opportunity to submit an answer at the next trial which was held on Wednesday (12/4).Previously, five police officers suspected of being the broker for accepting Polri non-commissioned officers at the Central Java Regional Police were prosecuted. The handling of the case was carried out by the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police.The five police officers were respectively Commissioner AR, Kompol KN, AKP CS, Bripka Z. and Brigadier EW. They have been proven to have violated the Police Professional Code of Ethics.Three police officers, each Commissioner AR, Kompol KN and AKP CS were sentenced to two years of demotionMeanwhile, two other actors, namely Bripka Z and Brigadier EW, were sentenced to be placed in special places for 21 days and 31 days, respectively.
In their actions, the police officers obtained money collected from the parents of prospective non-commissioned officers with a total amount of Rp. 9 billion.
