JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy ratified the amendment to Eid al-Fitr 2023 joint leave. The government decided that Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri joint leave was shifted and added one day. This change was decided through a coordination meeting to evaluate the joint decree (SKB) of 3 ministers regarding holidays and leave with 2023, at the Coordinating Ministry for PMK Office, Wednesday 29 March. "The president requested that the joint leave holiday be on 21, 24, 25, 26 April 2023 which corresponds to a 3 ministerial SKB on Holidays and Joint Leave in 2023 be changed to 19, 20, 21, 25 April 2023. In this case, the joint leave was shifted forward and added one day of collective leave on April 19, 2023," said Muhadjir as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday 29 March. Muhadjir explained the consideration of shifting collective leave and adding one holiday. It is said, the decision was taken to give the public the opportunity to take leave early, so as to avoid mass buildup at the peak of the homecoming flow. "The peak of the homecoming flow is estimated to coincide with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 2023, April 21, 2023. Based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) it is estimated that around 123 million people will go home this year, and this will experience a drastic increase from last year," he said.
The change in the SKB of 3 ministers regarding holidays and Eid al-Fitr 2023 joint leave was signed by the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziah, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas witnessed by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy. "I ask for the attention of all stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Transportation, the TNI, Polri and other related parties to carry out regular assessments to anticipate the movement/mobility of the community in the context of Eid Al-Fitr 2023 homecoming, so that the implementation of homecoming and backflow can be well controlled," said Muhadjir. Furthermore, Muhadjir appealed to the public to take advantage of the addition of this joint leave by making Eid homecoming planning for long days and carefully in order to avoid congestion and discomfort during the trip.
