Platform X: We Are Not Friendly For Children's Sexual Exploitation Actors

JAKARTA Platform X, previously known as Twitter, is still showing its commitment to overcoming the problem of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) by updating their policies.

Elon Musk's company said that the handling of the CSE problem on platform X is still a top priority. Therefore, they continue to strengthen platform policies to stop the distribution of CSE content.

"On X, we do not tolerate Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and we are determined to make X unfriendly to perpetrators who want to exploit minors," said the Security Team X via the company blog.

Since the beginning of this year, X has started to improve the mechanism for detecting CSE content. They want to find more content that violates policies and reports related accounts to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

In addition to improving its system, X is also building a Center for Excellence, Trust and Security in Austin, Texas. This center employs many company agents to accelerate the detection of CSE content.

Another action that is considered quite important for X is investing in sophisticated tools and technology. First, they create an automatic reporting system to NCMEC. With this system, X can quickly report the CSE content spreader account.

We are now automatically suspending, disabling, and reporting to NCMEC within minutes without human involvement. This allows us to deliver more than 50,000 automated NCMEC reports last year, "explained Security X.

The next technology that X develops is a hash matching tool. This system is extended to video and GIF features so that the search for CSE content can be wider. As a result, X managed to detect 70,000 media related to CSE.

The latest improvement of the technology X is the tracking intervention system for keywords related to CSE. With this system, some forbidden keywords will be blocked by X and will not appear in the search.

We are rolling out the ability to block search results for certain terms. We have added more than 2,500 keywords and the CSE phrase to this list to prevent users from searching for general CSE terms," said Security X.

In addition to improving X's tools and technology, the company also enhances partnerships with trusted organizations and parts of law enforcement. Not only NCMEC, X also partners with the Tech Coalition and WeProtect.

X cooperates with law enforcement around the world and provides online portals to send request for removal, request for information, request for preservation, and emergency requests. Law enforcement officials can file lawsuits for the purposes of law enforcement investigations or the abolition of alleged illicit content.

Based on all this increase, X managed to suspend 12.4 million accounts that violated CSE's policy last year. This figure increased 2.3 million from 2022. Meanwhile, X's report to NCMEC last year reached 850,000.
