Bloody Train Film Review: CGI Is Good Not Supported By Terror That Is Maintained Until The End

JAKARTA - The production house MVP Pictures will soon release their latest horror film on February 1 with the title Bloody Train. The film, which was delayed by one year of release, was directed directly by Rizal Mantovani with Amrit Punjabi as Producer.

The film The Bloody Train begins with celebrating the recovery from cancer, Purnama (Hana Malasan) invites her younger sister, Kembang (Zara Leola) to vacation at a natural resort that has just opened in a remote place. To get there, they ride a tourist train that specifically serves trips to resorts.

A series of terror and mystery arises when each pass through the tunnel, one by one the carriages disappear. Now the passengers and train officers are at stake. Purnama, Kembang, Tekun (Fadly Faisal) the train attendant and Ramla (Putri Ayudya) the mysterious passenger tried to warn people.

Unfortunately, the warning was ignored. Purnama, Kembang, Tekun and Ramla then took an insurgency to save the train from a greater threat waiting in the last tunnel.

The film begins with a scene of terror by a creature whose shape can be said to be different from the ghost in other horror films. From this initial scene, director Rizal Mantovani was enough to make the audience feel tense and curious about the continuation of his story.

Filled with various groups of people, the film The Bloody Train is able to give time to explain in detail the background of each passenger on the train, so that the audience is not confused by the role of each character in this story.

The terror of the victim's ghost figure was slowly built using a transition like a Hollywood horror film, which of course could not be expected when the jumpscare would come. Even so, the impression of tension and scary woke up very nicely which made the audience feel nervous.

Uniquely, Rizal Mantovani can share his role with the main cast in a balanced manner, so that it is not felt that there are players who are more prominent than other players. This is also supported by the acting of the players who fit their respective portions.

Unfortunately, although the use of CGI and the set of train locations that should be thumbs up already really supports the story, the conflict that you want to build in this film feels too long. The audience seemed to wait too long for the peak of the conflict that this film wanted to convey, so the audience's curiosity began to sag in the middle of the film.

Even though this film is in a horror genre, tensions and tense atmospheres are only felt at the beginning of the film. In the middle to the end, the tense atmosphere and tension were no longer felt, which in the end only made the audience seem to only watch action films.

The environmental issues and social inequalities that want to be conveyed in this film have not yet reached the audience. The reason is that the issue seems not to be emphasized more deeply so that the audience only focuses on the action of revenge for an astral creature against humans.

Furthermore, the background of the creature that spreads terror on the train is not explained in detail about its background, raising the question, what underlies these creatures to hate humans so much and do such sadistic things?
