South Jakarta Bawaslu Affirms, Only Parties Can Remove Troubled APKs

JAKARTA The installation of campaign props (APK) carried out by political parties participating in the 2024 Election was proven to have violated the regulations. This was conveyed by the Commissioner of the South Jakarta Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Ahmad Fahlevi.

Fahlevi explained, in the General Election Commission Regulation (PKPU) 15 of 2023 it was explained that a number of location points, objects that were not allowed to be installed by the APK.

When asked whether the installation of the APK on the flyover and pedestrian bridge (JPO) was allowed, Fahlevi replied, it was not allowed.

"It's not allowed, (Flyover) places that are also prohibited from the KPU", Fahlevi told VOI, Friday, January 19.

In fact, since entering the campaign period, many APKs have been displayed on a number of objects that are not allowed by the KPU, as stated in PKPU No.15 of 2023. Even as a result of the violations that occurred, problems arose as occurred at the Mampang Flyover, South Jakarta. The husband and wife pair fell from the motorbike and suffered serious injuries as a result of the party flag (APK) collapsing on the flyover.

Realizing that many APKs were installed to violate regulations, South Jakarta Bawaslu could not do much. Because, according to Fahlevi, his party cannot remove the APB which violates the regulations.

"It can't be done, so we hit (regulations). We Bawaslu, our authority is not to discipline, but we are monitoring the installation of the APK. And supervising the APK, which is wrong.. yes wrong. Our authority is to recommend a letter.," explained Fahlevi.

Those who can remove the APK, continued Fahlevi, are related parties. Therefore, the South Jakarta Bawaslu coordinated with parties participating in the 2024 General Election that installed the APK in South Jakarta, the District Level.

But unfortunately, of the various parties that have been coordinated, only two political parties have called.

Those are the responses of only 2 political parties. Because the authority that removed today was only political parties. This afternoon we have contacted all the political parties involved. But only 2 political parties, PKB and Democrats. " said Fahlevi.

As is known, thousands of APKs stand in almost all corners of the capital. However, many people complain about the installation of the APK because it looks shabby, dangerous, disrupts the scenery and so on. In fact, not a few traffic accidents occur due to the APK.

South Jakarta Bawaslu is aware that many APKs are established and violate regulations. However, there are regulations made regarding the election, the organizers do not move because of regulations.
