JAKARTA - Regarding the chaotic installation of campaign props (APK) in East Jakarta, the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) claims that it has given directions to election participants to place the APK in the allowed area zone.

However, in reality, Bawaslu's directives are often violated by election participants who are still installing APKs in any place.

The chairman of the East Jakarta Bawaslu, Willem J Wetik, claims that Bawaslu and KPU have socialized and distributed softcopy of the DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU SKep No. 363 of 2023 to election participants.

"That regulates points and zones that are not allowed to install the APK," Willem said when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, January 18.

Willem ensured that the socialization of regulations to volunteers, sympathizers and contractors installing the APK was the duty and responsibility of each election participant because they had received softcopy given by Bawaslu and KPU.

"(About many laws and regulations) It is the duty and responsibility of each election participant to convey this to his team before the execution of the installation," he said.

Previously, the existence of the APK often endangered motorcyclists, especially the APK on the highway.

Bawaslu must take firm action by imposing sanctions on the 2024 General Election Consistent (Pemilu) who are proven to have violated. The violations in question include the rules and regulations for utilizing the APK.

"Bawaslu can impose strict sanctions on political parties (Parpol) or legislative candidates (Caleg) who are still violating and installing the APK without heeding applicable regulations, damaging city visuals, and endangering public safety," said Nirwono Yoga when confirmed, Wednesday, January 17.
