Palace Calls Surpres Substitute Firli Bahuri Immediately Sent To DPR

JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff Coordinator (Stafsus) Ari Dwipayana said the Presidential Letter (Surpres) regarding the replacement of former KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri would soon be sent to the DPR.

"As stated by the President on December 30, 2023 yesterday, it is still in process, so later after this process is completed, it will be submitted to the DPR immediately," said Ari in Jakarta, Friday, January 5, quoted by Antara.

Ari said there was no deadline for submitting the surpres. The most important thing, he said, is that the DPR RI has started the trial after the recess. "After that, it can be submitted to the DPR, hopefully soon," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the figure of Firli's replacement, Ari said that based on the KPK Law, it was clear that the candidate for replacement KPK leadership was taken from a candidate for leadership who had passed the fit and proper test in 2019, but was not selected at that time.

"And of course also add those who still meet the requirements. So from that criteria, we will be able to find out who is eligible to be nominated, the President proposed to become a candidate for replacement KPK leadership in the DPR," he explained.

Regarding who will serve as Chairman of the KPK later, Ari said that this was also still under study.

"This is also in the process, yes, in the study as well, it will be delivered soon," he said.

He said Firli's replacement depends on the process in the DPR later. After the President submits the surpres to the DPR, it will become the realm of the DPR to process internally until the replacement KPK leadership is elected.
