Handoyo Bus Overturned At Cikopo Toll Exit, 12 Died, 9 Others Injured

JAKARTA - A total of 12 people reportedly died and a number of other people were injured in a single accident that occurred on the KM 72 Exit Interchange of the Cikopo Toll Road, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, Friday, December 15.

Head of the Operations Division of Astra Tol Cipali, Sri Mulyo, said that this single accident involved the Handoyo AA-7626-OA bus heading for Yogyakarta-Bogor.

Initially, the vehicle passed from the direction of Cirebon and will exit to the Cikampek Interchange.

After entering the interchange corner, the driver allegedly did not anticipate the speed of the vehicle until it finally overturned and hit the guardrail or road safety fence. Meanwhile, the final position of the vehicle is upside down facing the east.

In this incident there were 12 victims who died, one seriously injured, and eight other victims suffered minor injuries.

The medical officers then evacuated the victim to the Radjak Hospital Purwakarta and Siloam Purwakarta Hospital.

"We are sorry for the accident at the Cikampek Interchange. Hopefully, victims and families will be given strength and fortitude in facing this incident," he said.

According to him, the accident was first reported by Cipali Toll Astra Officers to the call center service. This report was then coordinated with patrol officers, rescue, cranes, medical, and PJR (High Road Patrol) units.

The handling of the case was then carried out by the Law Enforcement Unit of the Purwakarta Police Satlantas.
