162 Omicron Cases Found In Jakarta, 6 Cases From Local Transmission

JAKARTA - Currently, there are 162 cases of Omicron found in Jakarta. The majority of cases are foreign travelers. Meanwhile, six of the cases were infected from local transmission and had no history of going abroad.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes), Dwi Oktavia, explained the details of the local transmission case. Two of the cases were husband and wife who traveled from Medan to Jakarta.

"This husband and wife traveled from Medan to Jakarta. It seems that the transmission period was right in Jakarta. Because of businessmen, yes. So, they met a lot of people, so there is a possibility when they are infected," said Dwi when contacted, Tuesday, January 4.

Then, another Omicron case is the family of the husband and wife. One case was a restaurant employee. The other two cases were janitors at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran.

Dwi said that the majority of the Omicron cases found in Jakarta had no symptoms or OTG, while the rest had mild symptoms.

"Everything is in good condition. There are no clinical complaints. Only the mildest complaints. Indeed, it seems that this Omicron is very large in people with mild symptoms or no symptoms at all," explained Dwi.

As long as they are positive, the Omicron case in Jakarta is undergoing isolation at the Kemayoran Athlete's Wisma, Sulianti Saroso Hospital, and the hotel that is being used as a place of isolation. However, they are not allowed to isolate in their respective homes.

"We know that Omicron will have more potential (infectious). So, we certainly try to slow it down. Don't let transmission be too easy because the isolation conditions are not ideal at home. So, as much as possible we are currently under the control of isolation," said Dwi.
