Pochettino Getting Closer To Chelsea, Lampard's Position Remains Safe Until The End Of The Season

JAKARTA - Frank Lampard has yet to deliver positive results since taking over at Chelsea. His position began to be questioned.

However, Chelsea seems to be holding on to Lampard until this season ends. Although reportedly the Blues already have a strong candidate for a permanent manager.

Rumors circulating in the media, Mauricio Pochettino will take over Lampard's duties and become permanent boss.

Pochettino is in talks with the London club. While nothing has been formally arranged, the former Tottenham manager is the favorite to take on the task of bringing Chelsea back to their former glory.

However, there are currently no plans to relieve Lampard of his duties once he has signed a contract until the end of the season.

That means the former Everton manager will continue in charge at Chelsea, starting with tonight's home game against Brentford.

Lampard is clearly desperate to avoid a fifth successive defeat since taking charge earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked by French club Paris Saint-Germain last July so is free to take a new job at any time.

But while negotiations are well underway, there is still work to be done before the Argentinian is expected to become Chelsea's fifth boss under controversial new boss Todd Boehly.

The American sacked Thomas Tuchel last September, then named Graham Potter as his replacement. He then dumped Potter in favor of Bruno Saltor as caretaker boss, before turning to Lampard to save a struggling team.

The Blues are currently in 11th place in the standings. They are five points adrift of Brentford, the team they will face in the game at Stamford Bridge.
