YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor, Heroe Poerwadi, was exposed to COVID-19 and is self-isolating at home. Heroe confirmed COVID-19 with mild symptoms.

"Health condition is getting better. Cough and phlegm are starting to decrease. I hope the body condition will get better", Heroe said in a video recording quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 21.

Heroe, who also serves as the Daily Chair of the Yogyakarta City COVID-19 Task Force, tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, July 19.

On Tuesday, July 20, he underwent a medical examination at the Jogja Hospital, including blood and lung tests.

"The condition of the lungs is clean, and there are no worrying things from the results of the blood test. From the results of this examination, I was declared to have mild symptoms," said Heroe.

According to government regulations, COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms can self-isolate at home under the supervision of health workers.

"By undergoing self-isolation at home, of course, you will feel more comfortable. The isolation process must still be carried out properly to finish the virus incubation period and later the body is completely clean of the virus", said Heroe.

Until now, Heroe did not know where he contracted the Coronavirus from. "It is very difficult to know where the exposure came from because the virus is very easy to spread", he said.

However, Heroe raised the possibility that he had contracted the coronavirus in his home environment because several people who lived and worked at his residence tested positive for COVID-19.

“The family environment is indeed a potential point of exposure. Therefore, there is a valuable lesson in this condition, namely how to improve the discipline of health protocols in the family environment", he said.

Heroe again reminded the public to remain disciplined in carrying out health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, in particular limiting interactions with other people.

“This virus will die within 14 days if it doesn't pass to other people. If the whole community can simultaneously limit their activities and interactions for 14 days, then the hope is that the transmission can be controlled and the virus disappears", he said.
