Aussie Caucasian Man Owner Of Airsoft Gun Persecuting Girlfriend From Makassar Arrested By Police In Bali

BADUNG - Kuta Sector Police arrested and detained an Australian man from DDI (29) who is suspected of molesting his girlfriend APS (33), an Indonesian citizen from Makassar and owns a airsoft gun.

Denpasar Police Chief Kombes Bambang Yugo Pamungkas said the perpetrator was arrested on Sunday (5/6) for molesting a woman from Makassar whom he knew five months ago through the Tinder friendship application.

Bambang said the incident of mistreatment of APS took place on Saturday, June 4, 2023, at around 18.00 WITA in a hotel room in the Kuta area because the boyfriend had demanded the money he had borrowed. On the same day, at 21.00 WITA, the victim reported the incident to the police.

"The complainant asked the reported for Rp1.5 million, but the reported said he never felt like he had borrowed money from the complainant or victim. Shortly after that, the reported spontaneously hit and abused the victim," said Bambang as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 6.

Bambang said that when investigators examined the victim, the victim as the reporter said that the reported party at the time of hitting, also threatened to mutilate the victim.

The police also arrested the perpetrator DDI and named a suspect and charged him with the article of persecution as referred to in Article 351 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of two years and 8 months in prison.

When the police developed the case, three long airsoft gunlas airsoft guns were found in the perpetrator's room and two short airsoft guns, knives and iron sticks.

Bambang said that currently the police are still investigating the possession and origin of the weapons owned by the suspect DDI.

"We are still investigating the weapons, checking the person concerned and asking for assistance from the consulate," said Bambang.

Bambang said that when questioned by investigators, the suspect admitted that he was a member of the Special Force Australia who carried out military exercises for the Indonesian Indonesian national team. However, after being investigated by investigators, it turned out that the suspect was not a member of the Special Force Australia but a technician.

"After an examination was carried out and then we confirmed to the Immigration Office that the person concerned was a technician. We also asked the consulate that the person concerned was a technician," said Bambang.

Meanwhile, Head of the Class I Immigration Office, Ngurah Rai Sugito, stated that the foreigner entered Indonesia using a visa on arrival (VoA) on April 13, 2023.

"In the immigration document, it is recorded that DDI is a technician," said Sugito.

Denpasar Police Chief Bambang Yugo also revealed that apart from committing a criminal act of persecution, the suspect had also stolen in Bali.

"From the results of the investigation, the reported party also committed theft at the Beach Walk (under army brand clothes), at a shop in Legian the perpetrator stole an electric flashlight), as well as at the Cakrawala shop Jalan Marlboro Denpasar with the mode of buying a item and inserting other items," said Bambang.
