JAKARTA - Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup, xAI, released its first AI model to a select group of people on Saturday, November 4. This was revealed by the billionaire and CEO of Tesla on Friday, November 3.

This comes nearly a year after OpenAI's ChatGPT captured the attention of businesses and users around the world, sparking a surge in adoption of generative AI technology.

Musk co-founded OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, in 2015 but stepped down from the company's board in 2018.

"In several important ways, xAI's new model is the best available today," he wrote on his X social media platform. "Soon after exiting early beta, xAI's Grok system will be available to all X Premium+ customers," Musk wrote.

X, previously known as Twitter, launched two new subscription plans last week, namely the premium+ package for US $ 16 per month for users who are willing to pay for advertising -free experience and basic packages at a price of 3 US dollars per month.

The billionaire who has criticized Big Tech's AI efforts and what he calls censorship said earlier this year that he would launch a maximum truth-seeking AI that seeks to understand the nature of the universe to challenge Google's Bard AI  and Microsoft's Bing AI.

The team behind xAI, which launched in July, comes from Google DeepMind, Windows' parent company, and other leading AI research companies.

Although X and xAI are separate entities, the two companies work closely together. Even xAI also works with Tesla and other companies.

Larry Ellison, Oracle co-founder  and close friend of Musk, said in September that xAI had signed a contract to train its AI models on Oracle's cloud.
