JAKARTA - Baidu has just opened access to its generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its large language model (LLM), ERNIE Bot to the public. Now, it is available through its app store and website.

ERNIE Bot or Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration is only intended for the Chinese market, but with its presence, ChatGPT is claimed to be difficult to pave in that country.

Baidu CEO Robin Li stated that opening ERNIE Bot to the public will elicit more input from humans, which will ultimately help companies iterate on chatbots more quickly, while improving the user experience.

Introduced last March, the ERNIE Bot is able to demonstrate capabilities such as summarizing a sci-fi novel offering suggestions on how to proceed with the story in the expanded universe.

Chatbots can also generate images and videos based on text input. Earlier this month, Baidu said ERNIE Bot's training results had tripled since its launch.

Now, the chatbot is able to perform analysis, visualize data, provide faster results and handle image input.

With the launch of ERNIE Bot to the public, it indicates that Baidu has received the green light from the Chinese government. Where, companies that have generative AI must register their businesses starting August 15.

After that, they need to get approval from the authorities before they can release the generative AI experience to the public, as quoted from Engadget, Thursday, August 31.
