JAKARTA - Android users with older devices are reminded that their phones are at a much higher risk of being hacked starting next week. There are 47 devices on the market that will be affected, including various Samsung Galaxy and Sony Xperia phones.

This warning comes as Google plans to end support for phones running Android 4.4 software, better known as Android KitKat. This change will take effect from August 1, and there will be no Google Play update after this date.

Users will not be able to update the app, meaning their device will slowly become unusable. This news was announced by Android Developers Blog.

"The Android KitKat platform was first released 10 years ago and since then, we have introduced many innovative upgrades and features for Android, which are not available on KitKat," wrote Android Developers Blog'

They also revealed that the number of active devices still using KitKat is less than 1% because more and more users have updated to the latest Android version. To check if your device will be at risk, check the full list below.

Some of the devices listed on the list, including the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE, are still available for purchase at Ebay and other used goods retailers.

When released in 2013, KitKat was the first Android to introduce full-screen video playback and allowed users to select their own launcher.KitKat is also known for increasing device speed and providing cleaner interfaces.

However, because it is 10 years old, most of the apps, games, and manufacturers no longer support KitKat, and this decision from Google will only limit more what the segment device can do.
