JAKARTA - IMDb, the world's most popular information resource platform about movies, TV shows, and celebrities announced the launch of a series of new products and policies designed for the professional entertainment industry.

Entertainment professionals can now choose whether or not they want to display age and other demographic information on their profile on IMDb. If they want to make it limited, they can put that information on IMDbPro.

According to a release Engadget found on the IMDb website, this update is part of IMDb's ongoing commitment to support advancements in the entertainment industry, and IMDb's mission to be the most accurate and comprehensive source of entertainment information.

This policy update is certainly the result of IMDb's collaboration with many leading organizations, specializing in anti-bias, prevention of bullying, diversity, equity and inclusion.

These organizations are ADA Lead On Productions, ADL (Anti-Defamation League), CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment), Easterseals Southern California Disability Services, EIN SOF Communications, GLAAD, and many more.

IMDbPro is a membership service for entertainment industry professionals, empowering customers with information and features designed to help them achieve success at all stages of their career.

For more than 10 years, IMDbPro members have been able to decide whether they want their age/year of birth to appear on IMDbPro or not. This policy update marks the first time they can choose whether their age/year of birth is displayed on the IMDb website and app for entertainment fans and general consumers alike.

If IMDbPro members choose not to include their age/year of birth on the IMDb website and application, the month and date of birth will still be displayed.

"The significant updates we're announcing today reflect our ongoing commitment to being the most accurate and comprehensive source of information on film, TV shows, talent, and entertainment industry professionals," said Col Needham, founder and CEO of IMDb.
