JAKARTA - Elon Musk is perhaps known as the leader of the company who changes his mind the most easily. After previously stating that Twitter Blue was discontinued, now the new owner of the social media platform has stated that the subscription feature will return.

“Twitter Blue may be “back at the end of next week”, said the Twitter owner and the world's richest billionaire in a tweet on Saturday, November 12.

Meanwhile, Twitter on Friday 11 November said it had discontinued its recently announced $8 blue check subscription service, due to the proliferation of fake accounts on the platform.

The blue tick that many account owners crave, was previously reserved only for verified accounts of politicians, famous figures, journalists, and other public figures. But the subscription option, makes it open to anyone willing to pay for it. The feature, launched earlier this week to help Twitter increase revenue as Musk struggles to keep advertisers afloat on social media.

Several users reported on Friday that the new subscription option for the blue verification check had disappeared, while a source told Reuters the offer had been canceled.

"To combat impersonation, we have added the 'Official' label to some accounts," said the Twitter support account, which was tagged "official" in a tweet on Friday.

The label was originally introduced on Wednesday but was "killed" by Musk just hours later.

On Thursday, November 10, in his first company-wide email, Musk warned that Twitter would not be able to "survive the impending economic downturn" if it failed to increase subscription revenue to offset falling ad revenue.
