JAKARTA - A few days ago, Meta announced that it would discontinue a special app for couples called Tuned after experiencing a decline of more than two years since it was first launched.

“The time has come to say goodbye… Tuned will be discontinued this September,” the company wrote in its announcement on Facebook, quoted Wednesday, July 27.

According to a report from one of the app's users, Meta started giving notifications to its users to start downloading their data before September 19, before the app no longer works.

“We are very grateful for all the creativity and feedback from this community and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We have learned a lot from you. We hope this helps strengthen your relationship as it did for us with our own partners," wrote Meta.

It is known, Tuned is a project under the New Product Experiment Team (NPE) Meta which was launched in the early months of the pandemic.

"We started out as a small experimental project in 2020, and are very proud of the many couples since then who have told us that Tuned brought them closer," the company continued.

Tuned is made for couples to stay in touch with each other even if it's just a virtual one. Tuned also comes with a variety of features, ranging from messaging and quizzes designed to create more intimate relationships.

In Tuned, users can exchange notes, photos and videos, challenges, voice messages, to share music that is integrated with Spotify. Users can also set each other's moods, and a "check-in" feature to encourage couples to express their feelings about the relationship at any given moment.

"Now is the time to take the digital lessons we've learned and carry on IRL in our own way," the announcement concluded.
