JAKARTA - Technology company Sony will remove access to hundreds of movie and TV show titles on its digital store service, the PlayStation Store starting next month.

With this removal, PlayStation store users who previously paid for titles such as The Hunger Games and Paddington will no longer be able to watch them.

Based on legal notices posted on two regional sites, reported by The Verge, the shutdown will affect users in Germany and Austria.

The shutdown will take place starting on August 31, exactly one year after Sony stopped buying movies and TV shows in its digital stores.

"Starting August 31, 2022, due to our evolving license agreement with content providers, you will no longer be able to view Channel Studio content that you previously purchased and it will be removed from your video library," Sony said in the notice.

At the time, Sony assured customers that they would “still be able to access movie and TV content they had purchased through the PlayStation Store for on-demand playback on their PS4, PS5, and mobile devices.” However, that doesn't mean forever.

It's not clear if there will be refunds for users who have purchased the titles that will be removed in the future, but according to Variety, there are 314 titles in Germany and 137 in Austria that will be removed.

Titles affected include Chicken Run, John Wick La La Land, Logan Lucky, Saw, Shaun the Sheep Movie, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
