JAKARTA - Elon Musk has launched several plans to change Twitter, one of which is direct messages (DM). He said the DM feature could be more secure with the end-to-end encryption feature.

"Twitter DMs should have end-to-end encryption like Signal so no one can monitor or hack your messages", Musk wrote on social media on Saturday, April 30.

The end-to-end encryption feature makes sent messages visible only to the sender and recipient. No third party can see the message.

The Tesla CEO considers the features in Signal to be more secure so it is hoped that Twitter can undergo a similar feature. Musk's tweet has already been liked by more than a million and retweeted by more than 110,000 users.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) had said that messages without encryption could threaten users.

"When you send a message on Twitter, there are three parties who can read the message: you, the user you're posting to, and Twitter", the EFF said in a statement.

"This means, Twitter can make material according to legal requests, messages can be leaked, even internal access can be used by hackers and Twitter employees themselves", he explained.

It is known that this plan was expressed by Elon Musk a few days after he bought the Twitter company for USD 44 billion. Musk also said he wanted to delete spam accounts, bring an edit button, and do other things.
