After The Success Of The MEB, VW Will Add To The Platform Named SSP For 2026

JAKARTA - A German automotive manufacturer has become one of the leaders in the electric car (EV) segment. One of the brands is Volkswagen (VW), which has developed two EV platforms, namely MEB and J1.

The MEB platform has been used in 14 EV models under the auspices of the VW Group. Some of the models that use this platform include VW ID.3, VW ID.4, VW ID.7, Skolda Enyaq iV, and Audi Q4 e-tron.

Meanwhile, the J1 platform is only used in several models with limited production volume, such as the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan.

With only two platforms being used in several models, VW Group plans to add a new platform to which Porsche models and Volkswagen hatchbacks will be used.

Reporting from InsideEVs on Thursday, June 22, VW plans to introduce an additional platform called the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) in 2026.

The SSP platform offers 800V voltage technology that supports various types of batteries, including LFP, LMO, and NMC. According to manufacturer claims, SSP can generate a maximum of up to 1,700 dk of power for electric cars.

The platform is likely to be used in several futuristic models under the Artemis project. In the Artemis project, Audi will reportedly launch an e-tron Q8 with the latest platform around 2026.

The Q8 e-tron model will have a better power increase and reach compared to other models that use other platforms. In addition, the platform will also have improved charging technology to meet customer needs.

Previously, the Volkswagen Group had announced the sale of one million electric car units using the MEB electric propulsion platform in the global market.

With the success of several models that use the MEB platform, it is hoped that the SSP platform can also achieve success similar to future futuristic EV models.
