JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-dept. successfully held the North Jazz Festival 2023 at Batavia PIK Square, Kamal Muara Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta on Saturday, August 19 yesterday.

The North Jazz Festival 2023 is an activity specifically designed as a platform for the jazz music community to demonstrate the ability and improve their skills in playing jazz.

This event is part of a series of North Festival 2023 which is open to the public and free of charge, consisting of various events including North UMKM Bazaar, Music Talk Hak Cipta Lagu', Jazz Jam Session and the final round of the North Jazz Band Competition 2023.

Starting his report, the Head of the North Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-dept. Shinta Nindyawati expressed her highest appreciation to the jury who provided valuable input to the finalists.

"I hope that with input from the jury, it can increase the enthusiasm of young musicians, especially in North Jakarta, to keep the spirit of work," said Shinta according to an official statement received by the editor.

The final round of the 2023 North Jazz Band Competition was attended by 10 cross-generation jazz musicians who managed to escape the preliminary round whose judges were chaired by Jaga Cita, Head of Music School of Indonesia.

Acting as judges in the final round and guest stars were famous Indonesian jazz figures, namely Gilang Ramadhan, Syaharani and Tony Brilianto. In addition, there are Igun Sudarmono, head of content AMI Awards and Ali Akbar, music directors who won the AMI Awards.

The ceremony for awarding winners begins with the hours of the session of Gilang Ramadhan, Syaharani, Tony Brilianto and Ali Akbar by inviting bassists from one of the finalists.

Furthermore, the judges of the final round expressed their appreciation for the North Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-Department for successfully organizing the 2023 North Jazz Festival and distributing North Jazz Band Competition for the first time.

The jury, represented by Gilang Ramadhan and Syaharani, also conveyed several messages for finalists and alternately announced the names of the 2023 North Jazz Band Competition.

This activity received positive appreciation from the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Disparekraf, Andika Permata. In closing marks delivered at the end of the event, he said that the DKI Jakarta Disparekraf would protect this event by registering it as an IP (Intellectual Property -red) brand.

"God willing, this will be a flagship event for the DKI Jakarta Disparekraf but the vocal point will be the North Jakarta Parekraf Sub-Department," said Andika.
