JAKARTA - Pinterest, a virtual pinboard platform that allows you to upload and find images by category, announced its partnership with Warner Music Group (WMG), Warner Chappell Music, Merlin, and BMG on Wednesday, 19 October.

This partnership will enable Pinterest to deliver a royalty-free music experience, allowing users to access music globally.

With support from 7Digital, the leading B2B digital music solutions platform, users can now add songs from Ed Sheeran, Silk Sonic, Anitta, and more to their Idea Pins.

“Music plays an important role in enhancing storytelling and empowering the storytellers, creators and Pinners who inspire the world every day on Pinterest,” said Malik Ducard, Pinterest's Chief Content Officer in a statement shared on Twitter.

The ability to add songs to an Idea Pin will allow content creators to engage more deeply and creatively with their audience.

"The future of media will be built on music. WMG, including our publishing partners at Warner Chappell, are excited to partner with Pinterest to help inspire their users to engage, design and imagine," said Oana Ruxandra, Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development, WMG.

In addition to the new music and artist catalog, now available on iOS and Android, Pinterest is also launching a new music user experience to make it easier for users to find and add their favorite tracks to Pin Idea.

This new experience will give users the ability to search for the desired track by song title, artist or keyword.

To add music to Idea Pins:

  1. Open Idea Pins
  2. Click the music icon
  3. Search track
  4. Add track
  5. Notes
  6. Publish

Jeremy Sirota, CEO of Merlin also admitted that this partnership is truly a collaborative process to visualize how Pinterest creators can make music a more integral part of their experience on the platform.

"We love making independent music part of Pinterest's exciting features. Merlin members are thrilled to see the content emerging from it," he concluded.
