Asma Nadia Feels Harmed Because There Is A Title Similar To Novel's Title With Tear Film At Ujung Sajadah

JAKARTA - The film Tears in Ujung Sajadah has successfully touched 3 million viewers in theaters. In the midst of this success, this film is in danger of receiving copyright reports from author Asma Nadia.

This polemic began when the film Tears in Ujung Sajadah had a similar title to Cinta Di Ujung Sajadah, Asma Nadia's novel, which was released in 2008. This continues when many viewers mark their profile after finishing watching this film.

Asma Nadia, who was assisted by Ana Sofa Yuking's attorney, tried to open a discussion with the producer or production house, but there was no good faith. As a result, Asma Nadia opened her voice publicly.

"I think this problem is actually about the interests of the future of writers throughout Indonesia. The film Tears in Ujung Sajadah, which was released last September, is widely referred to as an adaptation of the novel Asma Nadia. Asma thought that the opinion began to circulate because of the slightly modified title similarity.

Furthermore, Asma Nadia admitted that she had never been contacted by the filmmaker regarding the use of the title.

"I have never been given a notification or contacted regarding the use of film titles that are very similar to the title of my work. Another thing I really regret is that the parties involved in the production of the film Tears at Ujung Sajadah have never straightened out the existing news and let the public think that the film is an adaptation of my novel," said Asma Nadia.

According to him, the phrase Di Ujung Sajadah has been attached to the title of the novel because his work has been circulating since 2008. The film explained that this film had been made since 2017, but in time, Asma Nadia felt that the name in the novel had already been made.

Asma Nadia was disappointed when the film advised her to register the title in Pusbang in order to avoid the polemic.

I personally feel very aggrieved by this incident. Because, the novel Cinta di Ujung Sajadah, which was previously very much in demand by various producers, will be difficult to film considering that there is already a film with a very similar title, in fact many people think the film was adopted from the work of Asma Nadia, "he said again.
