JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has confirmed that the revision of the development plan or Plan of Development (POD) for the Eternal LNG project Blok Masela will be completed this October.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said that the revision is currently underway, and he encourages those involved to immediately complete the POD.

"God willing (October). Now our team is working hard to solve what can be resolved," Arifin told the media at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, October 20.

This POD is carried out so that during the process of working on this project it does not violate the rules.

He also asked related parties to immediately complete the POD and this development project could run immediately.

"Don't hold back," said Arifin.

Arifin ensured that after completing the Masela POD, the Oil and Gas Field, which is located in the Arafura Sea, already has potential gas buyers including domestic consumers who are ready to absorb gas from Masela.

"There is, there will also be a lot of domestic ones. We have a lot of domestic allocations. So that domestic energy resilience is achieved," he said.

The Eternal Field in Blok Masela is a deep sea gas field with the largest gas reserves in Indonesia which is located about 160 kilometers off the coast of Yamdena Island in the Arafura Sea with a sea depth of 400-800 meters.

Masela's PSC contract which is valid until 2055 has the potential to produce 9.5 MMTPA (million metric tons per year) of LNG and 150 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day) of pipe gas.

In addition, Field Abadi is expected to produce condensate production of 35,000 barrels per day.

The concept of developing a new green field (new oil and gas field) that has high complexity and big risks includes deepwater drilling, subsea facilities, FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading), and onshore LNG plant will be a challenge as well as a great opportunity for PHE and its partners to make it happen.

In addition, this field development also has the potential to absorb up to 10,000 workers.

The Masela Block is also planned to produce clean LNG through the application of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology to support government programs in reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainability in the energy transition era.
