The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Targets the Number of Lake Toba F1 Powerboat Visits to Reach 25.000 Tourists

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is targeting more than 20 thousand tourists to attend the 2023 F1 Powerboat World Championship (F1 H2O), which will be held on Lake Toba, North Sumatra, on February 24-26.

"So, we expect 25 thousand tourists to come," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno in Jakarta, Monday, February 13.

Sandiaga said, this figure is expected to exceed the number of tourists in the previous two years.

"Hopefully, this number will increase tourist visits by up to 3.7 percent in the two years after this event takes place. We will also combine this with the Proud Travel Movement in Indonesia," he said.

Not only that, said Sandiaga, holding the F1 Powerboat is also predicted to gain 180 million digital media impressions later.

"The direct impact on the economy of North Sumatra Province reached IDR 212 billion," he stated.

For your information, the F1 H20 event or also called F1 Powerboat is a world championship event for speedboats with speeds reaching 200-240 kilometers per hour and has been held in 39 countries since 1984.

Several countries have hosted the F1 Power Boat, including Italy, France, Portugal, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and China.

In 2023, Indonesia is entrusted with hosting the opening series of the F1 Power Boat series. Lake Toba was chosen as the ideal location to become the circuit used in the F1 H20 championship.

In addition to the large lake area, other aspects such as natural scenery and road access to the location are quite supportive.

Not only that, Lake Toba is also one of the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) which is being intensively developed by the government.
