Korea Masters 2023: Ester And Komang Compact To The Second Round

JAKARTA Two women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi compactly stepped into the second round of the 2023 Korea Masters.

Ester made sure to qualify after defeating her competriot Putri Kusuma Wardani in a dramatic match of three games 21-13, 19-21, and 26-24 at the Gwangju Women's University Stadium, Korea, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 evening WIB.

"Praise God, I was able to win the match against Putri. A match that was not easy," said Ester after the match.

"We practice together so we already know each other's strengths and weaknesses. Putri is also experienced in appearing in senior level tournaments," he added.

In the second half, Ester will face Lin Shi Yun. This Chinese Taipei women's singles escaped after defeating her compatriot, Liang Ting Yu.

Meanwhile, Komang reached the second half after stopping Keisha Fatima Az Zahra. The Azerbaijani representative was beaten by two straight games, 21-16 and 21-8.

"This is my first match after my leg injury. Honestly, there is still fear but astungkara can be given smoothness and victory," said Komang after the match.

"In terms of the game, I haven't gone too far, hopefully tomorrow it can get even better. I want to try optimally here," he said.

The escape of these two women's singles made Indonesia have five representatives in the second round.

Before they were tickets for the second half, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Rahmat Hidayat, Adnan Maulana/Nita Violina Marwah, and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito had already secured the second round.
