Bas Dost Falls And Needs Medical Care, AZ Alkmaar's Match Against NEC Nijmegen Forced To Stop

JAKARTA - AZ Alkmaar's match against NEC Nijmegen, on Sunday, October 29, at the AFAS Stadium, had to be stopped due to a medical accident involving Bas Dost. As reported by Voetbal International, the NEC striker suddenly fell to the ground around the midfield line. However, Dost, 34, regained consciousness and was rushed off the field.

Dost, seen while playing for Club Brugge, threw the ball at AZ players for free kicks, stepped back a few steps, and suddenly without contact with other players on the pitch, he fell to the ground. Initially, no one realized what had happened, and the game continued.

Suddenly referee Jeroen Manschot realized that Dost was in dire need of medical assistance. Emergency services immediately moved into the field to take care of the former Sporting striker. While the players protected Dost from the camera's view when he was treated by medics before a large white cloth was also used to block view of the audience and camera.

After several minutes of treatment, former Club Brugge striker Dost was taken off the pitch on a stretcher and confirmed to fans at the AFAS Stadium that he was aware of raising his hands. This was confirmed through social media by NEC and AZ.

The match had to be stopped, but whether the match would be repeated or the outcome would still have to be decided. When Dost received treatment, NEC took the lead 2-1 thanks to goals from the Dutch striker and Magnus Mattsson, who gave the visitors the lead before Vangelis Pavlidis scored a goal back for the hosts.

Earlier this season, there was also an incident between RKC Waalwijk and Ajax, when goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen required lengthy injury care after colliding with Brian Brobbey. Now, things are going the right way for the Brabant goalkeeper, as confirmed on Saturday night.
