JAKARTA Manchester City will play an away match to Young Boys headquarters on the third matchday of the European Champions League group phase for the 2023/2024 competition season.

City, who is the defending champion, will be waiting for Young Boys for the Group G phase at the Wankdorf Stadium, Bern, Switzerland, Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 02.00 WIB.

City currently top the group standings with a perfect collection of points from two matches. Pep Guardiola's team previously won over Red Star Belgrade and RB Leipzig.

Meanwhile, Young Boys, who won the Swiss Super League last season, lost one and drew one of their opening two matches.

Since ending their 31-year wait to win the Swiss main division in the 2017/2018 season, Young Boys have started to dominate their domestic football.

It was one of the five titles they managed to secure in the last six seasons. After losing their title from FC Zurich in the 2021/2022 season, they returned to the title stage last season.

Raphael Wicky's side reached the group stage of the European Champions League this season by beating Maccabi Haifa 3-0 on aggregate in the playoffs. This is the group stage for the third time in this event in their history.

However, their journey was not so impressive. They had to lose 1-3 at home to RB Leipzig in the opening match before winning a 2-2 draw on their way to Red Star Belgrade.

This performance is clearly in stark contrast to what City has shown. Even though The Citizens are still far from the best performance, they are still seeded when they play for Switzerland.
