Mikel Arteta Praises William Saliba's Appearance In The Champions League, Hopes To Be Repeated When He Meets Lens

JAKARTA - Arsenal won a brilliant victory with a score of 4-0 against PSV in the Champions League match at the Emirates Stadium, London, where William Saliba played an important role in keeping the clean sheet goal of the Gunners.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised William Saliba's development since joining this London club. Arteta said that Saliba's performance in the past year was extraordinary and rarely seen among the current center-backs.

"When you look at the progress, the role he has played in the team, level, and consistency he has shown in the past year, is truly extraordinary. I don't think you will find many centre-backs doing what he did," Arteta said as quoted by LiveScoe.com.

Arteta also gave awards to Saliba's teammates who have helped in its development. According to him, Saliba has the quality, presence, physical, and calm that is needed to become a leader in the back lines of a big club like Arsenal.

Arteta also expressed his readiness to face the next Champions League match against Lens, on Wednesday 4 October WIB. Lens was Ligue 1 runner-up last season and is expected to give Arsenal a tough game, even though they are currently in 15th place in the French league standings.

"This season, they are really unlucky with some results. I don't know why they don't get more points, so we expect a big fight tomorrow," said Arteta.

"We are well aware of that. They are a very good team and we have a big test ahead of us, tomorrow," added Arteta.
