SURABAYA - Persebaya Surabaya already has a new coach to replace Aji Santoso, who some time ago agreed to separate. The figure is Josep Gombau.

Persebaya Surabaya manager Yahya Alkatiri said Gombau accompanied Persebaya players to train at the Gelora Stadium on November 10, Surabaya on Thursday, September 14.

He hopes that the registration of the name of the Josep Gombau coach to PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) can be completed soon before the match against Madura United on Sunday, September 17.

"We actually registered it on that day, hopefully before tomorrow's match it will be clear in the LIB," he said, as reported by Antara.

According to the Transfermarkt football data site, the owner of the full name Josep Gombau Balague is without a club. The coach who was born in June 1976 already has an UEFA Pro license.

The last club he trained was Odisha FC from the Indian Super League. The coach, who is agented by the DV7 Management, has coached Espanyol from junior, scorer to technical director.

Next, he went to Barcelona as a scout for young players and assistant coaches. In addition, he has also coached in the Australian national team in the U-24 and even senior categories.

Other clubs he has practiced are Kitchee SC (Hong Kong), Adelaide United FC (A-Leauger Australia), WS Wanderers FC (A-Leauger Australia), Queensboro FC (USL, United States), and Odisha FC (Super India League).
