Badminton World Championship 2023: Quick To Change Game Pattern To Key Febriana/Amalia Qualify For Round Of 16

JAKARTA Indonesian women's doubles, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, secured a ticket to the round of 16 of the 2023 Badminton World Championships by defeating Margot Lambert/Anne Tran.

Febriana/Amalia won two straight games 23-21 and 21-11 over the French pair at the Royal Arena, Copenhagen, Denmark, Wednesday, August 23 evening WIB.

This victory put Febriana/Amalia ahead of their 3-2 win-loss streak over the French representative. It was also their second win of the year after the Malaysia Open in January.

"In the first game, we haven't found a pattern of play. We didn't play well. In the second game, we changed the pattern of the game. As a result, the pattern can enter and run smoothly to win the match," Febriana said after the match.

In the round of 16, Febriana/Amalia will face eighth seed from Thailand Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai. So far Jongkolphan/Rawinda have won 1-0.

Jongkolphan/Rawinda's only win over Febriana/Amalia took place at the Badminton Asian Championship last April in Dubai.

"Finally, in the meeting at the 2023 Asian Championships in Dubai, we were able to play quite tight until the rubber game. We admit that the opponent is also very strong. It is not easy to penetrate the opponent's defense. It takes good stamina to face them," said Amalia.

Before Febriana/Amalia, tickets for the round of 16 had already been secured by mixed doubles duo Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.

Meanwhile, the women's doubles steps Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto had to stop after losing badly in two games against first seed Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan.
