The Indonesian National Team Enters Pot 4 In The 2023 Asian Cup Draw Results

JAKARTA - Drawing or lottery for the 2023 Asian Cup has been completed. The AFC then officially released the results, where from the draw the Indonesian national team was in pot 4 with India, Tajikistan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Quoted from the official AFC website on Saturday, April 8, the determination of the position of the pot was based on the ranking of the country that appeared in the Asian Cup via FIFA ranking. Where the latest ranking status was shared by FIFA at the end of March after the FIFA Matchday period was completed. The final draw of the highly anticipated Qatar 2023 Asian Cup, will take place on May 11, 2023, at 14.00 (local time), in Doha, Qatar, has now been confirmed following the release of the latest FIFA world ranking," wrote the AFC statement. Qatar occupies the first position in Pot 1 before the draw to be held at the Opera Catara Building to ensure the opponent of the host country (Qatar) in the tournament with the opening match scheduled on January 12, 2024," continued the statement. In addition to Qatar, which has already been confirmed to occupy a pot 1, the countries that will join in this pot are those who will be ranked second to sixth in Asia in the latest FIFA ranking. They are Japan (4 timesjuara), Iran (3 times champion), South Korea (2 times champion), then Australia (2015 champion), and Saudi Arabia.

Pot 2 will consist of 2007 edition champions namely Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Uzbekistan, then China who have twice been runners-up, as well as Jordan. Meanwhile, Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Vietnam, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, and Lebanon occupy Pot 3. Like the 2019 edition in the United Arab Emirates, 24 teams will be divided into six groups consisting of four teams in Group A to F. Where in the future the top two-ranked teams and the top four third-placed teams will advance to the last 16 of the competition.
