Marco Asensio Shy About Answering Rumors Of Move To Barcelona

JAKARTA - Real Madrid's Marco Asensio has been shy about answering rumors related to Barcelona's interest in signing him next summer.

Asensio has been linked with a move to Barcelona following his reduced playing time with El Real.

For that, there is a possibility he will move for free when his contract expires this summer. Barcelona is also reportedly in contact with him.

However, Asensio still has little to say about it.

"I haven't thought about it. I can't answer right now. I honestly don't know [if Barcelona has contacted]", he said as quoted by COPE.

Currently, the 26-year-old player is in the last year of his contract with Los Merengues. Talks regarding his new contract were delayed some time ago so it looks like he is ready to leave the club as a free agent in 2023.

The possibility of moving was even more open after he was left out of the Los Blancos starting eleven this season. The reason is that Carlo Ancelotti's tactician is more likely to install Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde.

Asensio himself has acknowledged the rumors linking him to Barcelona. He said he would accept offers from any club he wanted when his contract expired at the end of the season.

"Many friends have told me about the news that Barcelona wants to sign me. I have received about 200 messages. There are a lot of rumors and a lot of things we don't know", he said.

This season Asensio has had very few opportunities. He has only played 47 minutes for the reigning Spanish La Liga champions in all competitions.

Before being linked with Barcelona this season, he had also been linked with a move to several Premier League clubs last summer. However, in the end, he stayed at the Santiago Bernabeu.
