Real Betis Vs Atletico Madrid 1-3: Los Rojiblancos Reach Top 4 Of La Liga Standings

JAKARTA – Atlético Madrid has moved up to fourth place in the 2021-2022 Spanish La Liga standings. This was thanks to a 3-1 win over Real Betis in the 27th week at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, Spain, on Monday, March 7 Indonesian Western Time (WIB).

In this match, Joao Felix scored two goals to help his team win. Meanwhile, another goal for Atletico was scored by Thomas Lemar.

The only goal from the hosts was scored by Cristian Tello. He helped Betis equalize just before halftime with an angled shot from the edge of the box.

This victory made Atletico managed to shift Betis from fourth position in the standings of the Spanish highest caste. Los Rojiblancos are now trailing behind Barcelona who finished third.

At the moment Atletico and Barcelona are both collecting 48 points. The two are 15 points apart from leaders Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Betis, who started the weekend in third place, are behind Barca and Atletico in fifth with 46 points from 27 games.

Felix created the first goal in the first minute with a close-range shot that followed Angel Correa's cross.

Betis equalized just before half-time when Cristian Tello fired home an angled shot from the edge of the box.

Atletico dominated the game after the break. Felix then scored his second after Marcos Llorente led a quick counter-attack before turning in the Portuguese for the final touch from inside the Betis box.

Substitute Antoine Griezmann, slowly recovering from injury, provided the cross that gave Thomas Lemar the winner in the 80th minute.

Based on ESPN's records, Betis dominated the game by controlling 65 percent of the ball distribution and making 18 attempts to score, six of which were on target.

Atletico, on the other hand, appeared more defensive but more clinical with only eight attempted goals, six of which were on target.
