Europa League Results: Without Injured Haaland, Rangers Humiliated Dortmund 2-4

JAKARTA - Borussia Dortmund was humiliated 2-4 by Glasgow Rangers in the Europa League last 16 first leg at Signal Iduna Park on Friday morning.

Launching Antara, Dortmund played without their mainstay striker, Erling Haaland due to a muscle injury.

Rangers had a golden opportunity to score in the 38th minute after being awarded a penalty. Dortmund defender, Dan-Axel Zagadou is considered to have handball in the forbidden box while trying to block a corner kick.

James Tavarnier who advanced as the executor of the penalty successfully netted the ball into the Dortmund goal. Rangers lead 1-0.

The visitors doubled their lead three minutes later. Alfredo Morelos scored an easy goal after utilizing Joe Aribo's assist. Rangers winning 2-0 until the first half ended.

Rangers stepped on the gas in the second half and scored the third goal in the 49th minute. This time it was John Lundstram's turn who broke into Gregor Kobel's goal through his shot in the penalty box. The score becomes 3-0.

Two minutes later, Dortmund reduced the position. Raphael Guerreiro sent the ball to Jude Bellingham which was finished by and made it 1-3.

The visitors responded quickly with their fourth goal in the 54th minute. Morelos' shot hit Dan-Axel Zagadou and into the Dortmund goal. The referee declared that Zagado had scored an own goal. Dortmund trailed 1-4.

Dortmund scored the second goal in the 82nd minute. Raphael Guerreiro found a pass from Bellingham, before carrying the ball into the penalty area and kicking it into the Rangers goal. The visitors lead 4-2.

The hosts failed to equalize until the final whistle and the game ended in a 4-2 victory for Rangers.

The second leg is scheduled to take place on February 25. This time it will be Rangers' turn to Dortmund at the Ibrox Stadium.
