JAKARTA - PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) has held an emergency meeting to decide the continuation of the match in week 22 amid the COVID-19 storm that hit several Liga 1 clubs.

From the meeting that took place on Wednesday, February 2, it was found that one match in week 22 was finally officially postponed. The match was a meeting between Persib Bandung and PSM Makassar.

"Today there are four matches, but the official Persib vs PSM match has been postponed", said PT LIB President Director Akhmad Hadian Lukita during a virtual press conference Wednesday, February 2 afternoon.

In the 22nd week, there are actually four matches to be held, namely PSS Sleman vs Persik Kediri, Persita Tangerang vs Borneo FC, PSM Makassar vs Persib Bandung and PSIS Semarang vs Persebaya Surabaya.

However, from the four schedules, Persib vs PSM is a match that meets the requirements to be postponed. This is because, in addition to the number of players who have been exposed to COVID-19, Persib has also submitted a suspension of matches.

"The match was postponed based on the results of the emergency meeting due to a submission from Persib. This was submitted based on the results of checking players (who were positive for COVID-19), where the number of players remaining to compete did not meet the requirements because there were less than 14 players", Lukita added.

Regarding the continuation of when the postponed match between Persib and PSM will be held, the director is still not sure. Because PT LIB will continue to conduct periodic evaluations every day to see how the developments in each club.

Apart from that, the fourth series of the League 1 competition held in Bali is indeed entering a tough period. This is because several players in the teams in League 1 were attacked by the COVID-19 storm. Among them are Persib Bandung, Persebaya Surabaya, Persija Jakarta and Madura United.
