Chinese President Xi Jinping: The Best Way To Resolve Palestinian-Israeli Conflict Is A Two-State Solution

JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping has again called for a ceasefire in the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the release of all hostages, reiterating that a two-state solution is the best way out of the conflict in the region.

This was conveyed by President Xi while attending an extraordinary virtual summit meeting of the countries that are members of the BRICS, to discuss the Palestine-Israel issue.

"I have emphasized many times that the best way to resolve the recurring conflicts between Palestine and Israel is a 'two-state solution'," said President Xi, citing CNN from the Xinhua news agency November 22. Xi said,

Without a just resolution of the Palestinian issue, according to President Xi, there will be no lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.

He further called for all violence and attacks on civilians to stop, steps to be taken to ensure the safe and smooth flow of humanitarian aid, the provision of more humanitarian aid to the people in Gaza and an end to "collective punishment" in the region through forced migration, cutting off water, electricity and fuel supplies.

"In the current situation, BRICS is an appropriate and necessary time to raise the voice of justice and peace regarding the Palestine-Israel question," said President Xi.

In mid-October, President Xi called for a ceasefire, saying a two-state solution was the only way out of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

At the time he also said China was willing to work with Egypt and Arab countries to "promote a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue," according to CCTV.

The emergency virtual summit was attended by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

South Africa chaired the virtual summit. The South African Presidency said that representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) delegation were also present on the occasion.
