JAKARTA - TNI General Agus Subiyanto has been approved by the DPR in today's plenary session to become TNI Commander replacing Admiral Yudo Margono. General Agus is scheduled to be sworn in by President Joko Widodo as the new TNI Commander tomorrow. Under his leadership, General Agus Subiyanto guaranteed the neutrality of the TNI in the 2024 General Election. The Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) emphasized that there would be criminal sanctions if TNI soldiers were caught doing practical politics. "Please note. Regarding the neutrality of the TNI, there is already a law. First, Law number 34 of 2004, active TNI cannot carry out practical politics. Then, there is Law number 7 of 2017 if politics is practical, there will be criminal sanctions or warnings from unit commanders," said General Agus at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 21. According to the law, General Agus explained, the sanctions were in the form of a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a fine of Rp. 12 million. In addition, there is a TNI neutrality post that has been formed by the TNI Commander, Admiral Yudo Margono. "And we also had yesterday with the TNI Commander Yudo, kick off about the neutrality of the TNI. We will create a complaint post where if people see the TNI is not neutral, they can be reported to the post," Agus explained. Especially in the Army, added Agus, all soldiers have been provided with pocket books. Including special commanders. "So we have made a pocket book that can be contained in the pocket. So that it can be taken everywhere and the contents are clear what to do and what not to be done in accordance with the law. And if he commits a violation as I have said, he can be punished or reprimanded by the unit commander," said General Agus.
