Former Indonesian Ambassador: The World Is Waiting For Real Actions For Indonesia To Resolve Palestine-Israeli Conflicts

JAKARTA - Former Indonesian Ambassador to Ukraine Yuddy Chrisnandi said the world was waiting for Indonesia's real action to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli war.

According to him, Indonesia has great bargaining power among Islamic countries that are members of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

"OIC countries, such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates do not have a bargaining power as big as Indonesia, in voicing the interests of Muslims," Yuddy said in the Moya Institute Webinar entitled "Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: Settlement Opportunities", Friday.

As quoted from his written statement, Yuddy said that Indonesia is the country with the most Muslims in the world. According to him, if all Muslims in Arab countries are collected into one, it still cannot match the number of Muslims in the country.

He also believes that the attitude of Arab countries regarding Palestine is still vague. With this condition, Yuddy assessed that Indonesia's role was awaited in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Meanwhile, Indonesia is one of the countries mandated by the OIC to start action on behalf of the OIC and the Arab League to stop the war in Gaza. This was as agreed after the extraordinary summit in Riyadh, Saturday (11/11).

Apart from Indonesia, the OIC leaders also mandated Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and Nigeria to help start the political process to realize peace between Israel and Palestine.

In the online discussion, General Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu'ti viewed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict from the thermos and political dimensions.

According to him, the conflict was caused by the theological claims of the Zionists who viewed Palestinian soil as the land of their ancestors, but the political dimension was also thick inside.

Muti said that Muhammadiyah considered political solutions more suitable to resolve the war. He highlighted the two-state solution (two-state solution) as the most logical solution to ending the Palestinian-Israeli war.

The 'Two-state solution' or a two-state solution is the most logical solution for resolving the conflict between the two nations because according to the Israeli people it also has the right to live in the region. Meanwhile, Moya Institute Executive Director Hery Sucipto expressed concern and deep anger at the humanitarian tragedy that occurred in Gaza, Palestine. He regretted the Israeli attacks that sacrificed infants and children.

"Therefore, the Moya Institute took the initiative to hold this webinar to analyze developments that occur, read out possible settlements, including reviewing possible steps that Indonesia can take to play a more active role in efforts to create peace between Palestine and Israel," he said.
