Former Director Of Kominfo Sentenced To 18 Prisons In 4G BTS Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - Former President Director (Director) of the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (Bakti), Anang Achmad Latif, was found guilty in the corruption case of the 4G base transceiver station (BTS) project and supporting infrastructure 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Thus, the panel of judges sentenced him to 18 years in prison.

"The defendant Anang Achmad Latif was sentenced to 18 years in prison," said Chief Judge Fahzal Hendri during a trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Wednesday, November 8.

In the verdict, the panel of judges also imposed a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

"To charge the defendant to pay compensation of Rp. 5 billion was taken from the money that had been deposited to the Prosecutor's Office in the amount of Rp. 6 billion, the remaining Rp. 1 billion was returned to the defendant," he said.

His actions are considered to have fulfilled the elements of Article 2 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Act in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and the second primary indictment of Article 3 of the Law on the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU).

In that decision, the panel of judges had several considerations for Anang Achmad Latif. For burdensome matters, he is considered not to help the government in eradicating corruption and not being honest.

"The financial loss of the state is large and is in the public spotlight," he said.

Meanwhile, for mitigating considerations, Anang Achmad Latif was considered polite during the trial.

"The defendant is the head of the household," said Judge Fahzal.

The verdict or verdict of the panel of judges is no different from the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU). In which, Anang Achmad Latif was sentenced to 18 years in prison, and was demanded to pay a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 12 months in prison, and to pay compensation of Rp. 5 billion, subsidiary to nine years in prison.
