JAKARTA The daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid alias Gus Dur, Yenny Wahid, expressed her appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto's statement proposing Gus Dur as a national hero.

According to Yenny, Gus Dur's family respects anyone who proposes the title of national hero for the figure known as Mr. Pluralism. He also emphasized that the family fully handed over the process to related parties.

"We have never made movements to ask Gus Dur to be made heroes. The family is always in a passive position. However, we still respect anyone who proposes, especially President Prabowo," Yenny said after attending an event at the Ansor GP Office, as quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, December 22 evening.

For the family, Gus Dur has become a hero in the hearts of the people, so that the formal title of the government is not a must. However, Yenny revealed, if the title of hero is given, it will be a means for the younger generation to learn more about the figure of Gus Dur.

"Our children and grandchildren will be able to learn later. Future generations can find out who the national heroes of Indonesia are. The need is more that way," said Yenny.

However, Yenny added that so far there has been no official discussion between the government and the family regarding the proposal. He emphasized that the family would accept the process naturally.

Yenny also highlighted values that could be learned from Gus Dur, such as human values, justice, respect for diversity, and divine values.

"These values are one of the prerequisites for creating a just, harmonious, and advanced society," he concluded.
