MKMK Examines Constitutional Justice Manahan Sitompul

JAKARTA - The Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) examined the Constitutional Court Judge Manahan Sitompul at building II of the Constitutional Court, Jakarta.

Reported by ANTARA, Manahan Sitompul arrived at building II MK, Jakarta, at around 16.36 WIB, Wednesday, November 1, shortly after Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Saldi Isra, left after being questioned at the building.

Manahan Sitompul will be examined behind closed doors by three MKMK members, namely Jimly Asshiddiqie, Wahiduddin Adams, and Bintan R. Saragih.

When he walked from the first building of the Constitutional Court to the second building of the Constitutional Court, he did not provide information to reporters.

On Monday (16/10), the Constitutional Court granted part of Case Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 filed by an Indonesian citizen (WNI) named Almas Tsaqibbirru Re A. from Surakarta, Central Java.

In his petition, Almas requested the nomination requirements for presidential election participants at least 40 years old or experienced as regional heads, both at the provincial and district and city levels.

The public suspects that there was a violation of the constitutional judge's code of ethics in examining and deciding the case then appears.

Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) Jimly Asshiddiqie said there were nine issues related to the Constitutional Court that had been reported to the Constitutional Court since the trial of the reporter's examination on Tuesday (31/10).

One of them, the Constitutional Court judge was reported for not resigning when examining cases related to his family.

The Constitutional Court judge was also reported for speaking in public regarding the substance of the matter in the case being examined.

In addition, the Constitutional Court judge was also reported for revealing dissenting opinions or dissent related to the substance of the matter of the case being examined.
