JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court postponed the trial of a pretrial lawsuit filed by former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), next week because the defendant, namely the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was not present at the trial on the first day.

Public Relations Officer of the South Jakarta District Court, Djuyamto, said that the inaugural trial of the pretrial lawsuit filed by former Minister of Agriculture SYL was held this afternoon at around 11.00 WIB, led by single judge Alimin Ribut Sujono.

"It is true that the pretrial application hearing submitted by Syahrul Yasin Limpo was postponed on Monday 6 November 2023," said Djuyamto as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

According to Djuyamto, the KPK as the defendant was not present at the inaugural trial and sent a letter requesting postponement to the judge who examined the pretrial case.

In the letter, he said, the KPK asked for a postponement of the trial, namely three weeks of delay. However, the pretrial judge did not grant the request.

"So the next trial will be, namely on Monday, November 6, 2023," he said.

SYL filed a pretrial lawsuit for not accepting being named a suspect in the alleged corruption case by the KPK. The application for the lawsuit is registered with case number: 114/Pid.Pra/2023/PN JKT.SEL.

Former Minister of Agriculture SYL was named a suspect by the KPK in the alleged corruption case within the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. Apart from SYL, there are two other suspects, namely the Directorate of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono.
